In Law School, he published a Note: Judicial Control of Ex Parte Contacts: Home Box Office v. FCC, 27 DePaul Law Review 489 (1978). The Administrative Law Committee of the Illinois State Bar Association said that the work was “unusually perceptive.” In 2009, the American Bar Association published his 600-page book, Handling The Business Emergency: Temporary Restraining Orders and Preliminary Injunctions (ABA 2009). Lawyers reviewed the book as an “indispensable primer.” At its request, a second edition was published by the ABA in 2021. This time, he had a coauthor, Michael Haeberle, and the ABA changed the title for marketing purposes: TROs and Preliminary Injunctions: Handling the Business Emergency (ABA 2021). Both books are standard references for lawyers who need to pursue or defend against temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions in business lawsuits.
